CHRONIC PAIN: HOW CHIROPRACTIC CARE MAY HELP

September 19, 20262 min read

Pain is a normal response to injury and plays an important role in protecting the body during healing. However, when pain persists for more than three months or continues after tissues have healed, it is generally considered chronic pain. Chronic pain can affect nearly every aspect of daily life, including work, sleep, physical activity, and emotional well-being.

Key Insight:

Chronic pain is often more complex than an ongoing injury. Over time, changes can occur within the nervous system that make the body more sensitive to pain signals. In addition to physical factors such as joint dysfunction, muscle tightness, and reduced mobility, chronic pain may also be influenced by stress, sleep quality, physical inactivity, and other lifestyle factors. Effective treatment often requires addressing multiple contributors rather than focusing on a single source of pain.

Research supports a multidisciplinary, conservative approach to managing many chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions. Chiropractic care may help reduce pain and improve function by restoring joint mobility, improving movement patterns, and reducing mechanical stress on the spine and other joints. Treatment may also include therapeutic exercise, soft tissue therapy, patient education, posture and ergonomic recommendations, and strategies to help patients gradually return to normal activities.

Every treatment plan is individualized based on the patient's symptoms, medical history, physical examination, and functional goals. While chiropractic care may help many people with chronic neck pain, back pain, and other musculoskeletal conditions, especially when combined with healthy lifestyle habits such as regular physical activity, adequate sleep, stress management, and collaboration with other healthcare providers when appropriate.

Living with chronic pain does not necessarily mean you have to stop doing the activities you enjoy. A comprehensive evaluation can help identify factors contributing to your symptoms and develop an evidence-informed treatment plan focused on improving function, reducing pain, and enhancing your quality of life.

Excellent care, from the person at the front desk (very pleasant to all who were checking in, including myself), to my masseuse (Kathleen?) who had already read my intake form and asked clarifying questions as it was my first visit. She covered all area I had mentioned. I went here because it was on my insurance company’s list of cover d providers, and I’m glad I did.

I had my first massage with Heather and it was one of the best massages I’ve had! She worked through the knots on my neck and shoulders. The bed was heated and it went low enough for me to get on East (I’m 5’ tall). I also see Kathleen regularly and I love her! She uses lavender which I love. Sometime I feel chatty and we have the same vibe. Highly recommend them!

Most in depth chiropractic experience I've ever had. The focus isn't just on getting the cracks, but more of a holistic approach. We did some lazer therapy and after each session they would have me lay on a "bed" of ice or heat while a machine rolled my back out. It was great. The whole office staff is very nice and they ladies at the front always remembered my name when I walked it. 10/10 experience.

I had just gotten off the plane from the East Coast. I was in so much pain with Siatica. I called this office and they got me right in. Dr. Peter worked on me and was very thorough. I was able to enjoy my week with my son with little to no pain. I would highly recommend In Touch Chiropractic to everyone! The office is super friendly and better than anyone I have seen on the East Coast. Definitely the place to go if you’re in pain like I was!
