UNDERSTANDING ANXIETY AFTER A MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION
After a motor vehicle collision (MVC), it’s common to focus on physical injuries, but emotional stress can linger too. Some people experience anxiety, difficulty sleeping, irritability, or nervousness when driving again. The body may stay in a heightened “alert” state, especially if the accident was sudden or frightening. These responses are normal, but when they persist, they can affect daily life and recovery. Conservative care, including chiropractic treatment, may help by addressing physical tension and supporting nervous system regulation. When appropriate, collaboration with mental health professionals can also play an important role in recovery.
