CHIROPRACTIC CARE FOR TMJ DISORDERS
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders affect the jaw, causing pain, clicking, limited movement, and headaches. TMJ dysfunction can result from injury, teeth grinding, poor posture, or stress. Because the jaw is closely connected to the neck, spine, and muscles of the head, addressing only the jaw may not fully relieve symptoms.
Chiropractic care offers a holistic approach to TMJ disorders. Treatments may include gentle jaw and spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, posture correction, and exercises to improve jaw function. Research suggests that chiropractic and manual therapies can reduce pain, improve jaw mobility, and decrease related headaches. By addressing alignment and muscle tension throughout the head and neck, chiropractic care helps restore normal function and prevent recurrence.
Key Insight:
TMJ symptoms often improve when care addresses the jaw, neck, and posture together, not just the joint itself.
